Left something on a plane—or is your checked bag missing?
A phone in a seat pocket and a checked suitcase missing from a carousel need different reports. Start by telling the airline which situation applies.
Cabin item: identify the operating flight
Tell the operating airline or its arrival agent the flight date, route, seat and exact location: seat pocket, overhead locker or floor. For a codeshare, include both the booking flight number and operating airline. Do not re-enter a restricted area to search.
Checked bag: use baggage services
If a tagged bag did not arrive, go to the airline's baggage-service desk before leaving if possible. Keep the tag, boarding pass, bag photo and written report reference. Ask about tracing, delivery, expense documentation and the applicable claim deadlines; a lost-property message is not a compensation claim.
Use tools within their stated scope
China Southern's linked cabin-item search currently covers arrivals at Guangzhou Baiyun, not every airline or airport in China. A blank result outside that scope tells you nothing. Ask the relevant airline which office actually holds any matching item.
Keep your next address current
Provide reachable contact details and tell the airline when you change hotels or leave China. Confirm the handover method and any costs before agreeing. Do not assume a bag or cabin item will automatically be sent internationally.
A message you can send in Chinese
Replace the brackets with your details. Share only what is necessary through a verified channel. This is an enquiry, not a letter of authorization.
