Can someone collect your lost item in China for you?
There is no single authorization letter that guarantees collection at every Chinese airport, station or hotel. Ask the actual holding office before arranging a trip.
Get the office's requirements first
Provide the holding reference and ask whether your item may be collected by a named person. Request its own form and a precise list of owner and representative documents. Confirm whether scans, signatures or originals are accepted; do not assume a notarization is required unless told so.
Keep the authorization narrow
Identify the owner, named representative, specific item, holding reference and permitted action. Include a validity period if the office accepts one. Use its required wording and avoid blank signatures, general powers or authority over unrelated accounts.
Do not confuse a courier with a representative
Beijing Capital Airport lists separate courier-collection restrictions for valuables and documents. Confirm your exact item category with the office. Permission for a named person to collect does not automatically authorize courier pickup or international shipping.
Record the physical handover
Agree how to verify the item and visible condition without opening private accounts. Keep the collection receipt and a limited handover record. If a required document is missing, resolve it with the office rather than sending a substitute person or buying shipping prematurely.
