2. Information we collect

We may collect your name, nationality, email or messaging contact, telephone number, current country/location status, travel and booking details, lost-item description, photographs, documents, delivery address, case number, correspondence and payment status. Stripe processes card details directly; we do not receive or store full card numbers.

3. Why we use it

• To assess, search for, verify, collect and return lost property.
• To contact transport operators, airports, hotels, police, delivery providers and other relevant organizations.
• To communicate with you, provide quotations, collect payment and meet accounting or legal obligations.
• To prevent abuse, protect the service and resolve disputes.

4. Sharing and international processing

Only information reasonably necessary for your case may be shared with relevant organizations in China, collection agents, logistics providers and professional advisers. Form submissions and communications may be processed by FormSubmit and Google/Gmail; payments are processed by Stripe. Because the service is international, information may be processed in Japan, China, the United States and other countries where these providers operate.

5. Retention and security

Case correspondence and uploaded materials are normally retained for up to three years after case closure, then deleted or anonymized unless a longer period is required for accounting, legal claims or regulatory duties. Payment and accounting records are kept for the period required by Japanese law. We use access controls, encrypted transport and limited staff access, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

6. Your choices and rights

You may request access, correction, deletion or suspension of use by emailing support@chinalostfound.com. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where legally required or necessary to establish or defend legal claims.

7. Browser storage

The website stores your selected language in your browser. We do not currently use advertising cookies. Stripe and other service providers may use their own essential security and payment technologies when you visit their pages.
